It seems dollar stores and various other discount stores are becoming common retailers in most areas. Can this discount store really offer a bargain or only sell poor quality items? In my opinion, there are plenty of bargains to be found at dollar stores and discount stores if you're looking for the right stuff.
I give people lots of cards, but they can cost $3 each at most retailers. I was able to find some good cards at the discount store for around $0.50 each. They're still cute or pretty or sentimental in nature and I've never felt like I had to settle for less than what I wanted to say.
Disposable items for parties are widely sold in discount stores. The cost of napkins, paper plates, cups, tableware, invitations, and tablecloths can add up quickly. Wrapping paper and gift bags are another area of party goodies that can be found at good prices at discount stores.
SEARCH PHOTO FRAMES
I wouldn't recommend going to a discount store and buying gifts for your family members or friends, but there are some great items out there. I personally love buying photo frames from discount stores because they look just as good. However, I would feel bad giving photo frames from these shops as gifts. For example I bought a very nice set of three frames from a discount store recently. They look like glass and make a beautiful display in my wardrobe. However when you pick it up, you can quickly tell that it is made of lightweight plastic.
BUYING KIDS TOYS
Most discount stores have lots of toys for kids, but remember that children love toys. They will be very disappointed when the doll's head comes off or the car tire falls. I would not recommend buying such toys from a discount store because the quality is not there.
But there are lots of fun children's toys you can get from discount stores including cards, marbles, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, and coloring books. These all make great items for storing things or even for traveling to make trips go faster. I like to bring bubbles when we stop at the break as an incentive to get them to treat each other with respect while we're on the road. Simple, but works great every time!
BUYING SHOWER CURTAIN
There are also many items at discount stores that you can use to decorate your home. I refuse to pay $35 for a shower curtain! It will not happen. I always get them at the dollar store for just a few bucks. They last very long and they are fine. I had no problems at all when the time came to replace it. I've also found soap dishes and neat wall hangings for my bathroom at discount stores.
OFFICE SUPPLIES
Office supplies are something that most of us use on a regular basis. You can get them at very good prices at discount stores. Notebooks, paper, pens, glue, rulers, scissors, calculators, and envelopes can all be found for very good prices. I've never had a problem with the quality of the items. They are very comparable to the ones I bought at other retail stores for more money.
I think when it comes to finding bargains at discount stores there are quite a few to find. It is important that you do not have too high expectations when it comes to the quality of the goods. But in most of the cases with regard to the different items I've described above, the quality doesn't have to be exceptional. They will work to serve a purpose without spending a fortune. It makes party planning a lot more fun when you know you have the budget to cover it all. If you're not shopping at discount stores, you're really missing out on some great deals!
